WoundExpress™
Vascular Treatment
Simple to use device to assist in healing of venous and mixed leg ulcers.
Clinical studies have demonstrated improved healing rates and pain reduction after WoundExpress™ therapy was added to standard care.
Improved Healing Rates and Resource Savings via:
• Reductions in wound dressings
• Reduction in nursing time
A cost effectiveness analysis of using WoundExpress™ showed:
• It increased the probability of healing by 58% over standard care
• It increased health related quality of life. The recent clinical study by Naik et al, 2019 has demonstrated that WoundExpress™ is highly effective in reducing the size of ‘hard to heal’ ulcers. In the 21 patient study, the average reduction in wound size was 44% with only 8 weeks of therapy. Most of these wounds were present for more than one year. 48% were of mixed etiology and 52% were VLUs.
The average VAS pain score also reduced from 34 to 15 with 5% of patients reducing their level of analgesics.

WoundExpress™ is an innovative and simple to use adjunctive therapy for lower limb wounds which can improve healing rates and reduce pain.
What is WoundExpress™?
The WoundExpress™ is a wound Therapy Device clinically proven to assist in the healing of acute venous leg ulcers, or “hard to heal wounds”. WoundExpress™ therapy is delivered via a pump and garment, which operates by using low pressure air to deliver a compression therapy, sometimes referred to as Intermittent Pneumatic Compression therapy.
How does it work?
The gentle massaging effect of the 3 chambers in the leg garment, draws venous blood from the wound site, encouraging improved arterial blood flow into the leg. This overall effect increases venous return and aids the healing process of the ulcer.
Designed to be simple to use, the WoundExpress™ is ideal for use in the home and the single patient use garment can be easily fitted onto the thigh of the ulcerated leg. The lightweight and quiet pump, allows the two hour therapy cycle to be delivered while minimizing disruption to lifestyle and daily activities.
